U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor Tuesday announced that Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport will receive $7,832,400 for new runway construction.
The funds are provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which Congress passed last month.
“Northwest Arkansas continues to see increased air travel for business and leisure. This grant will help ensure the safety of every air passenger who travels through Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. These funds are exactly the kind of priorities the economic recovery bill should provide, and I am proud they are making their way to our state to strengthen our communities,” said Lincoln.
“For over ten years, XNA has provided Northwest Arkansas residents with a safe, reliable source of transportation,” said Pryor. “These economic recovery funds will not only expand and continue airport services, but also create needed jobs during this difficult economic period.”
