BENTONVILLE – A sign on EagleMed’s hangar at Louise M. Thaden Field/Bentonville Municipal Airport proudly boasts the motto, “When life is on the line, we are in the air.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, the helicopter ambulance company’s motto no longer rang true for northwest Arkansas. The privately owned company pulled up stakes and quietly left town.
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, EagleMed’s operations in Bentonville officially ceased.
Air Evac will take over any emergency calls that would have been routed to EagleMed, ensuring that the closure has a minimal impact on the county, said Marshal Watson, director of the county Department of Emergency Management.
